"Epona, from the ancient psychopomp goddess to the Fantasy heroine". In partnership with the Society of History and Archeology of Lorraine.
The discovery of three bas-reliefs of the goddess Epona in an ancient funerary context, on the Moselle sites of Sauvageon and Croix Guillaume in Saint-Quirin, sheds new light on this divinity. Venerated by the Gauls, then by the Romans, protector of horses and grooms, she undoubtedly also led the souls of the dead into the afterlife. She has spanned the centuries and today she is the heroine of fantasy novels and video games.
